Remember when you were young and your parents told you not to talk to strangers? How about never to meet up with someone form the internet? My happiest memory is the day that I betrayed both of those pieces of advice just to meet my best friend. Just after finishing Middle School I discovered a very specific internet chat room. This chat room was relatively small only housing about 15-20 users. Through out my Freshman year most of my fondest memories from that time are the conversations I had with the people in this chat room. One particular user Eveangeline, a girl just a couple months older than I am, started to become one of my really good friends. Only some time after the end of freshman year the chat room started to die, and people stopped talking to each other. Me and Eveangeline decided to stay in touch. Thanks to Facebook we became closer connected. From there I learned Her Name, Natalka. I remember this name being weird to me I have never heard a name like hers before, I can remember having to ask multiple times how to pronounce her name during a Multitude of Skype calls over the next few months. Eventually it got to the point I just started calling her Nat. Through out the next two years we got closer and at the end of senior year, we had both planted the idea to visit each other over summer, seeing each other for the first time. The plans over summer didn't work out as planned. That Next semester was our first semester of College, both of us were still trying to plan a meeting together. Then a week before the start of November we had set the date for the week after Thanksgiving. As the time approachess Excitement is running high between the both of us.
The day was a Friday, I left my Three hour English class early, headstrong for Chicago to meet her there by Noon. I had spent most of the car ride on the phone. We were talking to pass time, but mostly due to the fact that a creepy older man that was sat next to her was flirting with her. The trip to Chicago, just seemed to fly by. Emotions like Nervousness, Anxiety, Excitement, and Love all sweeping over me as i try to make heads or tails of the Illinois freeway system with a GPS at my side. Needless to say its just my luck i missed my exit and had to travel almost 15minutes out of my way to turn around. As I made my way near the bus stop to pick her up it turns our her bus is late, and I couldn't find a place to stop and wait.Next thing I knew I was lost. My GPS had lost signal, so being a small town kid, I had pulled over to the first available spot that I had saw on the road, to wait for my GPS to find the signal. Unknown to me at the time. Where I had pulled over was a no parking spot. There was a mail truck that was in front of me and blocking the no parking sign from my view. A few seconds later a foot officer Knocks on my window and hands me a Chicago parking violation. That violation had cost me $100 dollars, for a 1min stop. Now I'm super stressed and her bus had just arrived. I find a spot I could squeeze into, and she walks up. Time stopped, for some time I forgot everything, even how to talk. I've never been so happy to see a single person in my life. This girl who had just stepped off the bus is my best friend. My mind had gone blank, as she approaches, and I babbled like an idiot. She had set her suitcase down and gave me the tightest hug and I just stop talking. Nothing but happiness flushes over me. I remember feeling like I was dreaming because I had dreams of this moment. This weekend had turned out to be one of the best I had ever had. The weekend went by way to fast, and by I the time i knew it I had to bring her back to the bus stop so she can go back home. With her she took my happiest moment ever. Until she came out another time the next time.
